Fishing

The capital of Finland's Zanderland, Tampere has plenty of fishing waters, including the Tammerkoski Rapids in the very heart of the city centre. From Tammerkoski, a couple of steps away from the busy main street, you can actually catch a real whopper!

Angling, fishing with spinning lure or troll and angling through the ice are allowed without a permit, except for the Tammerkoski Rapids, where only fly fishing and spinning are allowed and a special permit is required. Fishing is possible only from the banks of the rapids. Daily catch may not exceed three salmonoids (does not include whitefish).

Fishing permits

A national fishing licence and a local fishing permit are needed for fishing in the waters in and around Tampere. The national fishing licence payment form is available from banks.

Further information on the fishing licence system:

Federation of Finnish fisheries associations

Daily permit to the Tammerkoski Rapids 5 euros, weekly permit 20 euros, annual permit 70 euros.
