Shopping

Tampere has a good selection of special shops, small boutiques, department stores and shopping centres, most of which are located in the heart of the city within easy walking distance.

A short drive away, there are sizeable supermarkets, shopping malls and other specialized shops.

Typically, shops are open from 9 or 10 am until 5 or 6pm on weekdays, but close somewhat earlier on Saturdays. Most department stores and shopping centres have longer opening hours, until 9pm on weekdays. Many supermarkets open at 7 or 8am.

On Sundays, some small shops and grocery stores are open throughout the year. However, most shops and all department stores only have Sunday openings during the summer months and in November - December before Christmas.

The only currency accepted is Euro, but there is money exhange at Forex, banks and at most hotels.
