Evangelical-Lutheran churches in Tampere

Of Tampere's churches, particularly the Cathedral, Kaleva Church, Alexander Church and Finlayson Church are worth a visit.

Opening hours of each church in May - August are given below. (Opening hours in September - April are given in brackets).

In the Evangelical-Lutheran churches, there is a Sunday service in Finnish at 10am, in Hervanta Church, at 11am.

Old Church (Vanha kirkko) in Keskustori Central Square hosts a service in Swedish on Sundays at 10.30am and in English at 4pm.

In the evening, most churches serve as concert venues. The Cathedral is famous for its organ recitals on Sunday evenings, whereas the most popular events at Kaleva Church are the late-night summer concerts. There are also other events, including christenings, weddings and funerals, during which there is no admission to visitors. Especially on summer Saturdays, many churches are occupied by family occasions for most part of the day.
