Air travel
Tampere Airport is located at Pirkkala, 17 kilometres southwest from the city centre.
Ryanair and Wizzair flights arrive at and depart from Terminal 2, whereas all other airlines are served at Terminal 1. The two terminals are some 200 metres apart.
There is a taxi rank at both terminals. To and from the centre, the trip takes around 25 minutes by taxi.

Tokee Bus operates between Tampere Pirkkala Airport Terminal 2 and Tampere Railway Station (in front of the main entrance), timetables tel. 0200 39000 (calling from Finland), +358 3 383 5444 (calling from abroad).
As to Terminal 2, there is a bus to the city centre after each arrival, and a bus to the airport from the railway station at approximately two and a half hours before the departure of the flight. Always check the exact timetable here: Ryanair bus.

At the airport, there are also taxi ranks in front of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and a free phone for calling a taxi (from Terminal 1 also Airport Taxi) in case there are no taxis available. The trip to/from the centre costs approximately 30 euros, somewhat more on weekends and at night.
For the trip back to the airport, you can also book a special Airport Taxi (tel. 100 41, from mobile phones or outside Tampere 0100 4131), which must be booked at least 3 hours before take-off (even earlier booking is advised) and it should be mentioned that the booking is for Airport Taxi. The taxi collects people from the centre, and the fixed price is 17 euros/person. The Airport Taxi operates only to and from Terminal 1.
